Organic beam epitaxy using controlled PMDA-ODA coupling reactions on Cu{110}
Article Abstract:
The interaction of promellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and 4,4-oxydianiline (ODA) on the oxygen-precovered Cu{110} as function of temperature and coverage was investigated using reflection-absorption infrared spectroscopy. Both molecules were found to display coverage-dependent reorientation from flat lying to upright species. Ana analysis of the condensation reaction of ODA with the two PMDA-derived species showed that the imide reactions can be controlled to grow the PMDA-ODA oligomer layer by layer.

Dimerization and double proton transfer-induced tautomerism of 4(3H)-pyrimidinone in solution studied by IR spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations
Article Abstract:
The infrared Raman spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations were used to analyze the tautomerism and dimerization of 4(3H)-pyrimidinone (4(3H) Pyr) in carbon tetrachloride (C[Cl.sub.4]) and chloroform (CH[Cl.sub.3]) solutions. The outcomes point that keto<-> enol tautomerization does not occur in the isolated monomer molecule and that the double proton transfer (DPT) reaction has a significant effect in the population increase of the enol form seen at high temperatures.

Chemical reactions in CF2Cl2/water (ice) films induced by X-ray radiation
Article Abstract:
Studies done on the chemical reactions initiated by high-energy radiation (Mg or Al K(alpha) X-rays) in amorphous CF2Cl2/H2O (ice) films using a combination of reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and temperature programmed desorption (TPD) is reported. It was found that the interaction of X-ray iradiation with amorphous CF2Cl2/H2O (ice) films generates a cascade of low-energy electrons.
